For the last 4 years we've been hunkering down at the Egress Inn on random weekends, writing and recording "Songs from Tin Can Alley".
Opening the night:
The Reformed Whores!
Join musical comedy duo Reformed Whores as they take on the world with their unique brand of "Southern-fried feminism." Katy and Marie belt out Dolly-esque melodies paired with hilariously raunchy lyrics and feminist flavor. They've opened for "Weird Al" Yankovic and Les Claypool, released two albums, and scored over a million views on their YouTube channel. For more information, visit www.reformedwhores.com!
EGRESS will be playing two sets.
The first set of the evening will be unlike anyway you have seen EGRESS perform while play almost the entirety of Songs From Tin Can Alley. The second set is EGRESS as you know them, head-banging, fist pumping, accordion toting action.
It all started out as a simple creative writing exercise to get the creative juices flowing. Inspired by the many definitions of "Tin Pan Alley" we set out to create, from scratch, songs reminiscent of Spike Jones, ol time jug bands, and a completely live recording with just a few microphones set around the room. We have all been so inspired by musicians of that time and the fact that before the ages of digital, musicians had to be good enough at their craft to record as a unit in one take. Almost instantly the concept EP's started taking on a life of their own and we discovered as a band that we had a lot to say both in our lyrical content and our musical content that didn't necessarily "fit" the tuba toting, accordion wielding, fist pumping, dance band to ring the end of the world in with that we have become.
We now have a full length album and we want to release a very limited amount to all of you!
